15 Deadliest States for Motor Vehicle Accidents

Motor vehicle accidents can come with deadly consequences, but many of us are unaware how often they occur or the circumstances involved.

Did you know that, according to the NHTSA, around six out of every ten fatal car accidents only involve one vehicle? Or that the deadliest time to be on the roads is between midnight and 3 a.m., especially on Saturdays? While these things are true in every state and territory in the United States, most non-commercial drivers don’t find themselves crossing state lines with the same regularity as commercial drivers.

Below are the fifteen states with the highest reported motor vehicle fatality rates. Many of these states are freight and shipping hubs, and TransForce drivers operate and pass through almost all of them. It’s always good to know which routes and areas present greater dangers when you’re on the road, but it is our responsibility at TransForce to ensure that we drive every mile safely, no matter what state we find ourselves in.
