Veterans: What to Know About Starting a Career in Trucking

If you’ve served—or know someone who is currently transitioning out of the military—you might be wondering how those skills and experiences translate into a steady civilian career. For many, truck driving has become that next step.

Troops Into Transportation is a program built to support that transition, helping veterans earn their CDL and move directly into jobs with trusted carriers. It’s a practical, supported path into an industry that values discipline, focus, and reliability.

What Is Troops Into Transportation?

Troops Into Transportation is the military’s leading CDL training and job assistance program, created specifically for transitioning service members and veterans.

It’s a DoD-approved SkillBridge program with training locations across the country and a presence on more than 10 military bases. Each year, more than 2,500 veterans participate in the program to earn their CDL and begin careers in trucking.
